• How much does a Serengeti balloon safari cost?

  A hot air balloon safari over the Serengeti costs $599 per person, and $550 per person over Tarangire. The price includes lodge pickup, the one hour flight, a landing celebration, a bush breakfast, a certificate and professional photos. Park entry fees for the day of the flight are extra.

• How long is the balloon safari?

  The flight itself lasts about one hour. The full experience, from the pre dawn pickup to the bush breakfast and drop off, takes around three to four hours.

• What time does the balloon safari start?

  You are collected from your lodge before dawn, usually between 5 and 6 AM, so the balloon can lift off at first light when the air is calm and the plains are waking.

• Can you see the Great Migration from a hot air balloon?

  In season, yes. From the air you have a good chance of seeing the great herds of wildebeest and zebra, along with elephants, giraffe, hippos in the rivers and, with luck, big cats on the plains below. Wildlife is wild, so sightings are never guaranteed.

• When is the best time for a Serengeti balloon safari?

  Balloons fly year round somewhere in the ecosystem. Seronera in the central Serengeti flies all year; Kogatende and Lamai in the north are best from June to October; Ndutu in the south flies over the green season from December to March; Tarangire flies all year.

• Where do the balloons launch?

  Miracle Experience launches from five areas: Seronera in the central Serengeti, Kogatende and Lamai in the northern Serengeti near the Mara River, Ndutu in the southern calving grounds, and Tarangire. Wherever your safari takes you, there is a launch site within reach.

• Is a Serengeti balloon safari worth it?

  For most guests it is the highlight of the trip: a silent hour above the plains at sunrise, a view of the ecosystem you cannot get from a vehicle, and a bush breakfast to finish. It is a splurge, but a memorable one.

• Who can fly? Age and height

  Children aged 5 and above who are at least 1.2 metres tall may fly, accompanied by a parent. Everyone pays the same per person rate.

• Is there a weight limit?

  Guests above 120 kg are welcome but pay a small supplement, as basket space and weight are limited.

• Can pregnant guests fly?

  For safety reasons, pregnant women are not able to take the flight at any stage.

• What is the cancellation policy?

  Cancelled 14 or more days before the flight: full refund. 13 to 7 days before: 50% refund. 6 days to 48 hours before: 25% refund. Within 48 hours or a no show: no refund.

• Are the flights insured?

  Yes. Every Miracle Experience balloon flight is fully insured, with cover arranged through Alliance Insurance and international underwriters.
