Mount Meru Hotel
A 178 room hotel in fifteen acres of water gardens at the foot of Mount Meru, on the edge of Arusha and the start of the northern circuit.
About
Mount Meru Hotel stands at the foot of its namesake mountain on the edge of Arusha, the gateway city for almost every northern Tanzania safari. It sits in fifteen acres of landscaped grounds and water gardens, a calm green pocket away from the bustle of the city centre, with the peak of Mount Meru rising behind.
It is the classic first and last night of a safari: the place to land into after a long flight, shake off the journey, and meet your driver in the morning, then the place to return to for a shower, a proper bed and a quiet dinner before the flight home. Kilimanjaro International Airport is about forty five minutes away and Arusha Airport, for light aircraft to the parks, about twenty.
The hotel has 178 air conditioned rooms and suites, from Standard rooms through Executive rooms and a Junior Suite, all with satellite television, mini fridge, tea and coffee, fast WiFi and generous space. Family rooms take up to four, and children up to twelve stay free when sharing with their parents.
There is an outdoor swimming pool, a spa and health centre, a fitness centre, landscaped gardens to walk, and restaurants serving continental and Tanzanian dishes. A large conference centre handles events and groups, service runs around the clock, and a business centre and airport transfers are on hand.
For travellers who want a comfortable, full service base on either side of the bush rather than a small guesthouse, Mount Meru is a dependable, central choice that works for every budget of trip.
