Fifty two chalet rooms, all at ground level, spread through the farm grounds rather than stacked in a block. Each is en suite. The scale means the farm takes larger parties comfortably while still reading as a working estate rather than a hotel.

Five kilometres to the Lolduare gate, which puts it about as close to the descent road as any property in the Karatu area. Guests generally leave after an early breakfast for a full day on the crater floor and are back before dark.

The afternoon coffee walk through the plantation is the set piece. Beyond that there are the farm and garden grounds to walk and a swimming pool, which is what makes the place work as a rest day rather than only a bed between game drives.

January, February, November and December are the green months here and the estate is at its best looking then, with the hills around Karatu properly green. March through May the long rains make the tracks heavier and the farm is quieter. Nothing closes: the contract carries no closed months.

From 1 October 2026 visitors entering mainland Tanzania must hold the government inbound travel insurance, 44 USD per adult and valid for up to 92 days, covering emergency medical care, evacuation, repatriation and lost luggage. Children aged 3 to 17 pay half and infants under 3 are free. It is bought online before you fly or on arrival, and residents of Tanzania and of East African and SADC countries are exempt. If you land in Zanzibar first, the Zanzibar policy covers you instead. It is paid by you directly and is not part of your trip price.
