The lodge runs on solar power, which also heats the water. Each tent has a charging strip for small devices and there is a battery charging station in the main area. Hair dryers cannot be used because they overload the solar system. Solar lighting is softer than mains lighting, so a head torch is useful for reading.

Yes, free wireless internet in the common areas rather than in the tents. Mobile signal on this western side of Tarangire comes and goes, so plan on being offline once you are back in your tent.

Travel and medical insurance is not included in the rate, and cover that includes emergency air evacuation is the sensible minimum on any safari. Anything serious is flown out from the nearest usable airstrip, with weather and daylight governing the timing, and the closest full hospital services are in Karatu.

From November to May the country turns green and quiet, with far fewer vehicles on this side of the park. Water is everywhere, so the elephant herds spread out instead of gathering at the camp waterhole, and the birding is at its best. Some tracks soften after heavy rain.

From 1 October 2026 visitors entering mainland Tanzania must hold the government inbound travel insurance, 44 USD per adult and valid for up to 92 days, covering emergency medical care, evacuation, repatriation and lost luggage. Children aged 3 to 17 pay half and infants under 3 are free. It is bought online before you fly or on arrival, and residents of Tanzania and of East African and SADC countries are exempt. If you land in Zanzibar first, the Zanzibar policy covers you instead. It is paid by you directly and is not part of your trip price.
