About
Tarangire Simba Tented Lodge stands on the western side of the Tarangire ecosystem near the Sangaiwe gate, looking out over Lake Burunge and the plains beyond. A giant old baobab anchors the camp, and a waterhole in front of the lodge draws elephant, giraffe, zebra and waterbuck through the dry months, in clear view of the rooms and the raised viewing deck.
Tarangire is famous for its enormous elephant herds and its skyline of ancient baobabs, and it stays quieter than the Serengeti and the Crater. The lodge makes the most of that, with an elevated treetop platform built into an acacia for watching the bush at eye level with the canopy.
Twenty four permanent canvas tents sit under thatch on raised platforms, each with a private veranda, an ensuite bathroom and both an indoor and an outdoor shower. A swimming pool with a sun deck, a restaurant with bread baked fresh each day, a bar, a lounge and a campfire complete the camp, all run on solar power.
It is a relaxed base for game drives through one of the northern circuit richest and least crowded parks, with a service reputation built on warm staff and generous packed lunches.

Location & access
Tarangire National Park
Fly-in: Fly to Kuro airstrip inside Tarangire, served by light aircraft from Arusha and the wider northern circuit, then transfer by road and game drive to the camp.
Drive: About 3 to 3.5 hours by road from Kilimanjaro International Airport, through Arusha and on to the western Tarangire boundary. Roughly 2 to 2.5 hours from Arusha town through Maasai country.
