Game drives are with the operator you choose for your safari. Not included: the four hour walking safari, the Maasai boma visit, park and conservancy fees, the conservancy night game drive fee, vehicle entry, flights and gratuities.

No, and that is the whole point of the setting. The night drives run in the surrounding Randilen Wildlife Management Area, outside the park boundary, because TANAPA does not permit night driving inside most Tanzanian national parks.

Complimentary wifi is provided and mobile coverage reaches most of the property. Elewana lists wifi in the rooms while some trade sources describe it as strongest in the main areas, so plan on the main lodge being the reliable spot.

Elewana runs its lodges on solar and generator power and states that electricity is available around the clock. Every treehouse has battery charging facilities and adaptors are kept in the room. Tanzania runs on 230 volts with British style three pin sockets.

Staff are first aid trained and there is nursing cover on site. Karatu is about two hours away by road and Arusha about two hours and thirty minutes, and Kuro airstrip is the route out for anything urgent. The contract we hold excludes flying doctor evacuation cover, so please travel with your own medical and evacuation insurance.

April is the wettest month and May stays damp. The country turns thick and green, water lies everywhere so the game spreads out and sightings take longer, and the roads soften. In exchange the lodge is quiet, the birding is the best of the year and the light is extraordinary.

Yes. The pool sits beside the main area looking over the waterhole and the plains, with loungers around it, and lunch can be served there. The main lodge is built around the baobab, so you are in the shade of the tree while you swim.

Yes. From 1 October 2026 visitors entering mainland Tanzania must hold the government inbound travel insurance, 44 USD per adult and valid for up to 92 days, covering emergency medical care, evacuation, repatriation and lost luggage. Children aged 3 to 17 pay half and infants under 3 are free. It is bought online before you fly or on arrival, and residents of Tanzania and of East African and SADC countries are exempt. If you land in Zanzibar first, the Zanzibar policy covers you instead. It is paid by you directly and is not part of your trip price.
