Nimali Tarangire

Eight tented suites. Six are standard suites with private decks over the seasonal riverbed, and two are family suites, each with two ensuite bedrooms either side of a shared lounge and a private plunge pool. Only the family suites have a pool. Counted as bedrooms rather than structures the camp sleeps ten, which is why some listings quote ten.

On a private concession in the central wildlife area of Randilen Wildlife Management Area, on the eastern boundary of Tarangire National Park. Sitting outside the national park is the reason walking safaris and night drives can run here at all.

It is sunk below ground in front of the lodge beside a waterhole near the fire boma, reached by a corridor from the raised deck. The opening sits at ground level, there are bean bags and room for a tripod, and the glass is floodlit after dark so it works at night as well as by day. Nimali believe it is the first hide of its kind in Tanzania.

About two and a half hours by road from Arusha, which makes it one of the easier camps to reach on the northern circuit. Flying in, Randilen airstrip is ten minutes away by road, Manyara airstrip about ninety minutes, and Kuro airstrip about three hours with a game drive and picnic through Tarangire on the way.

Yes on the contract we hold. The short rains fall in November and December and the long rains in April and May. The dry months from June into November are when the elephant concentrations along the Tarangire river are at their strongest.

There is complimentary wifi across the camp including the suites, though it is weakest in the bedrooms. The camp does not publish mobile coverage, so treat being contactable as a bonus rather than something to plan around.

Solar carries the camp with a generator for backup, and there are sockets in the suites for phones and camera batteries. Tanzania runs at 230 volts on the British style three pin socket, so bring that adapter.

Staff are first aid trained and there is a kit in camp. The nearest clinic is at Mto wa Mbu and the nearest hospital is FAME in Karatu. Evacuation is not included in the rate, so travel with insurance that covers medical treatment and emergency air evacuation.

Yes, children of all ages. The family suites take up to five guests. Walking safaris carry a minimum age of twelve. The camp is unfenced and animals move through it, so children are supervised at all times and guides use their judgement on which activities suit a given child.

Full board with three meals a day, soft drinks, daily laundry and the tourism development levy. Park and reserve fees, the game drive vehicle with its driver and guide, transfers, flights, evacuation cover, travel insurance, tips and personal items are charged separately. A game package rate is also published, which folds in airstrip transfers, scheduled game drives and the reserve fees.

Yes. From 1 October 2026 visitors entering mainland Tanzania must hold the government inbound travel insurance, 44 USD per adult and valid for up to 92 days, covering emergency medical care, evacuation, repatriation and lost luggage. Children aged 3 to 17 pay half and infants under 3 are free. It is bought online before you fly or on arrival, and residents of Tanzania and of East African and SADC countries are exempt. If you land in Zanzibar first, the Zanzibar policy covers you instead. It is paid by you directly and is not part of our quote.
