Simbavati Musabi Plains

On a hill inside the Serengeti National Park overlooking the Musabi Plains, in the western Serengeti near the Grumeti River and Grumeti airstrip.

Most fly to Grumeti airstrip with a short transfer. Arrivals via Seronera add a roughly 2 hour game drive. Overland from Arusha is about 7 to 8 hours.

The western corridor migration moves through broadly May to July, with strong resident game year round. The camp closes 1 April to 15 May.

Simbavati publishes wireless internet in the main lodge area only, so the tents stay offline. Bandwidth in the western corridor is shared and unpredictable, so plan for messages rather than calls.

Each of the six luxury safari tents has a king bed, an ensuite bathroom with an indoor and an outdoor shower and a double vanity, and a private deck facing the plains. The family tent adds a second sleeping area alongside the main bedroom.

Yes. From 1 October 2026 visitors entering mainland Tanzania must hold the government inbound travel insurance, 44 USD per adult and valid for up to 92 days, covering emergency medical care, evacuation, repatriation and lost luggage. Children aged 3 to 17 pay half and infants under 3 are free. It is bought online before you fly or on arrival, and residents of Tanzania and of East African and SADC countries are exempt. If you land in Zanzibar first, the Zanzibar policy covers you instead. It is paid by you directly and is not part of your trip price.
