Malaika Mara River Luxury Camp

Twenty eight tents: 18 Luxury Tents, 3 Luxury Family Tents, 6 Scenic View Tents at 88 square metres, and 1 Scenic View Family Tent.

June through October for the Mara River crossings. Crossings peak in August and September.

Luxury Tents are 66 square metres. Scenic View Tents are 88 square metres, the most spacious in the camp, and add a private bathtub, coffee brought to the tent each morning, and one dinner served outside under the stars when the weather allows.

By light aircraft to Kogatende airstrip, about 2 hours from Arusha Airport on the scheduled service, then a game drive transfer of roughly 25 km south to camp. By road it is a journey of two days with a night at Ngorongoro or in the central Serengeti, so almost everyone flies.

Yes. Children under five are complimentary. Children five to twelve pay half the adult sharing rate when they share with adults.

August and September for the river crossings. July and October catch the shoulders of the window.

Yes. The camp includes electricity around the clock at 220 volts, which is unusual for a seasonal camp this far north, so cameras and phones charge in the tent rather than at a station in the mess. Bring a universal plug adapter.

The camp lists wireless internet among its facilities and uses radio contact between camp and vehicles. Signal in the northern Serengeti is thin, so treat a connection as a bonus rather than something to plan work around.

Yes on both. The camp lists wheelchair access, and gluten free and vegan menus are prepared on request when the kitchen has notice. Tell us at the time of booking so it reaches the camp in writing.

Medical insurance and emergency evacuation are not included in the rate, and cover for both matters in the northern Serengeti. Kogatende airstrip is about twenty five kilometres away and is the route out for anything serious, with weather and daylight governing the timing.

Yes. From 1 October 2026 visitors entering mainland Tanzania must hold the government inbound travel insurance, 44 USD per adult and valid for up to 92 days, covering emergency medical care, evacuation, repatriation and lost luggage. Children aged 3 to 17 pay half and infants under 3 are free. It is bought online before you fly or on arrival, and residents of Tanzania and of East African and SADC countries are exempt. If you land in Zanzibar first, the Zanzibar policy covers you instead. It is paid by you directly and is not part of your trip price.
