The Photography Edit

There's a difference between a safari that visits Tanzania and a safari built to photograph it. This one's the second. Eleven days, four parks, hours of patience at every sighting — the time the shot actually needs. The dust at 5:45am, the cold air on a kopje at first hour, the soft hold of the light when a leopard finally drops out of an acacia line. This is the Tanzania photography safari itinerary the rest of our portfolio doesn't try to be.

The route opens with two nights in Tarangire for elephant light under the baobabs at first hour and last. Two nights at Seronera follow for the plains predators and the kopje cats — resident prides, cheetah on the open plains, leopard in the granite outcrops. Three nights on the Lamai wedge of Northern Serengeti come next, where vehicle counts at any one sighting are a third of what you'd see at Kogatende. The closing two nights at Ngorongoro give you a full morning and a full afternoon inside the caldera, not the rushed half-day that most photography safaris build their final day around.
